Your pathway

Getting started in four steps

Book a trial flight

A trial instructional flight puts you at the controls with an instructor. It's the best way to find out if flying is for you, and it usually counts towards your training.

Choose your licence

Talk with an instructor about your goals. Recreational flying is a popular, affordable start; you can progress to a Private or Commercial licence later.

Learn the theory

Study air law, navigation, meteorology, aerodynamics and human factors alongside your flying, using textbooks, online courses and club knowledge sessions.

Fly, solo & qualify

Build skills with your instructor, celebrate your first solo, then complete your flight test. Join the club to keep learning and flying with others.

FAQ

Common questions

How old do I need to be?

You can start training young; minimum ages apply for flying solo and for holding a licence. Our Junior membership is open to 12–18 year olds. Confirm details

Do I need a medical?

Requirements depend on the licence. Recreational certificates generally have simpler medical requirements than CASA licences. Your instructor can advise what applies to you.

How much does it cost and how long does it take?

Cost and time depend on the licence, the aircraft and how often you fly. Flying regularly usually means fewer total hours. Contact a flight school for current pricing. Club may add indicative figures

Can I join the club while I'm learning?

Yes. Our Temporary membership is designed for student pilots before they are licensed, giving you access to club facilities, social events and knowledge sessions.

Can I buy a trial flight as a gift?

Many flight schools offer gift vouchers for trial flights. Ask the operators above. Confirm availability
